About
Kaira (K.O.B.) is an emerging artist whose work explores memory and identity, loss and comfort. After stepping away from a career in IT several years ago, she wrote a memoir about her Soviet childhood and emigration to Canada. In visual art, she found new freedom of self-expression that transcends words and languages. Kaira has lived in Moscow, Toronto, Montreal, Kitchener, and Boston. She is now settled in midtown Toronto with her husband and two children.
When my inner world felt fragmented, art allowed me to create tangible homes outside myself for my memories, feelings, and questions. Art gave me a safe space to reflect, and others joined me, bringing their own interpretations and meaning to my work. I work primarily in acrylic, exploring a variety of subjects that reflect the spheres of personal experience — from street views and nature, to objects of home and comfort, to inner states of mind. I hope my work brings viewers into a space of reflection and reconnection, offering them warmth and company along their own journeys.
