About
Kaira (K.O.B.) is an aspiring artist based in Toronto. After stepping away from a fruitful IT career in 2023, she wrote a memoir about her Soviet childhood and her emigration to Canada in 1996. Then she continued to explore memory and identity through visual art, in which she found a freedom of self-expression that transcends words and languages. Kaira has lived in Moscow, Toronto, Montreal, Kitchener and Boston. She is now settled in mid-town Toronto with her husband and two children.
When my inner world felt fragmented and at risk, art allowed me to create tangible homes outside myself for my memories, feelings, and questions. Art gave me a safe space to reflect, and others joined me, bringing their own interpretations and meaning to my work. I enjoy playing with shapes and colours, and I work primarily in acrylic, painting a variety of subjects. Art is a joy, a relief, and a spiritual practice. I hope my artworks can bring solace and warmth to others, as they did for me.
